Obsidia was founded on a refusal — to produce anything that couldn't be made with full attention. We are a small studio. We intend to stay that way.
Obsidia began in a converted workshop with two people, one bench, and one conviction: that the furniture people live with every day deserves the same level of thinking that goes into architecture, into painting, into anything made to last beyond its maker.
We don't have a catalogue. Every piece we build is initiated by a conversation — about how a space is used, how it changes through the day, what it needs to hold and what it needs to let go of. We listen first. Then we draw. Then we build.
The things we make are meant to outlast the spaces they begin in. We build for the version of your life you're still growing into — furniture that will mean something different, and possibly more, in twenty years.
Every commission begins with a conversation about the space, the life being lived in it, and what the piece needs to do — now and later.
We sketch, model, and refine until we reach a form that feels both inevitable and surprising. You review and approve before any material is touched.
Every piece is built by hand in our studio. Two to three weeks, depending on complexity. You receive progress updates at each stage of the build.
We don't consider a piece finished until it is placed, seen in its space, and sitting exactly right.
If you have a piece in mind — or simply a space you want to feel different — we'd like to hear about it.
